New BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia: India has faced a shameful defeat against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In which India’s star players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had a shameful performance. Now there are tremendous discussions going on about his future. Meanwhile, it is being told that BCCI will discuss this matter for the first time in its special general meeting on Sunday. In which the new secretary of the board, Devjit Saikia has handed over the responsibility to chief selector Ajit Agarkar.

What did Devjit Saikia say?

India has to give information to the team regarding the ICC Champions Trophy by January 12. Meanwhile, Saikia said, ‘There are rumors going on about the future of Rohit and Kohli, especially captain Rohit, who was out of the Sydney match, has made it clear that he is not retiring yet. All this is weakening the board.

The board needs to send a strong message

Apart from this, he stressed the need to send a strong message to the board and also hinted at dropping both Kohli and Rohit from the Test team. He reminded that no player is bigger than the game. He said, ‘BCCI has to run cricket in the entire country. The board will have to send a message that no player should consider himself bigger than the game. Now a new team will have to be selected.

Poor performance of Rohit and Kohli

Even before the Indian team’s tour to Australia, Kohli and Rohit were being criticized. Because this was considered an important series for both these players. Kohli scored a century in Perth Test. But in the remaining innings he could score only 90 runs. It does not include even a single half-century. Rohit, on the other hand, scored just 31 runs at an average of just 6.2 in five innings before being ruled out of the crucial Sydney Test match. Overall, he has scored just 164 runs at an average of over 10 in eight matches since September.
