Mumbai: A fire broke out at the Heera Panna Shopping Centre, located on Pandit Madanmohan Malavia Marg near Haji Ali in Mumbai, early on the morning of Sunday, December 29, 2024. The incident was reported to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) at 9:09 am and was categorised as a Level-1 fire.
According to the MFB, the fire was confined to two closed shops on the ground floor of the single-story shopping centre. Thick smoke filled the premises, leading to immediate firefighting efforts. Visuals of the blaze have surfaced on the internet.

Fire extinguishing operations are being carried out with the assistance of one small hose line, two high-pressure first aid lines, and four motor pumps. Additional resources on-site include four fire engines, one water tanker, three jumbo tankers, one advanced water tanker truck, a breathing apparatus van, an ambulance from 108, and senior fire officers, including an Assistant Divisional Fire Officer (ADFO), a Senior Station Officer (SrSO), and three Station Officers (SO).
As of the last update at 9:48 am, firefighting efforts were still in progress. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported so far. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation once the situation is fully under control.
Massive Fire In Saki Naka A Day Ago
Meanwhile, just a day ago, a major fire broke out early Thursday morning at the Wajid Ali Compound in the India Market area on Khairani Road, Saki Naka, Kurla West. The incident, classified as a Level-III emergency, was reported around 6:00 am and quickly spread across the compound, engulfing large quantities of plastic and scrapped materials stored in godowns.
Firefighters deployed ten hose lines to combat the blaze, working tirelessly to bring the situation under control. Dramatic visuals of the massive fire and thick black smoke rising from the site have circulated widely on social media.
The fire caused extensive damage to the storage facility, which housed a significant stock of plastic and scrap materials. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined.
