Ahead of the WPL 2025 Mumbai leg, which begins on March 10 at Brabourne Stadium, an unexpected incident took place—a floodlight on one of the towers caught fire around 6:30 PM. Fortunately, the fire was quickly brought under control, and no injuries were reported.

The Mumbai leg of WPL 2025 will start with the Mumbai Indians facing Gujarat Giants in their opening home game on March 10. The eliminator and final are scheduled for March 13 and 15, respectively.

Brabourne Stadium has played a key role in the Women’s Premier League history. The inaugural WPL season in 2023 was hosted at Brabourne and DY Patil Stadium. In that season, Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, made it to the final and clinched their maiden WPL title with a dominant seven-wicket win over Delhi Capitals.

Now, after two years, WPL is returning to Mumbai, and the defending champions are eager to dominate their home season once again. With the advantage of home conditions, Mumbai Indians will aim for a strong performance and target their second WPL title in 2025.

Despite the minor fire incident, preparations for WPL 2025 remain on track, and fans can expect an exciting tournament as Mumbai Indians look to reclaim their glory.
