FIR petition on Justice Yashwant Verma dismissed in the Supreme Court, ‘President-PM will have to take action’

Justice yashwant verma: The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to consider a petition seeking to register an FIR against Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Verma. The case is in connection with the allegedly partially burnt cash recovery from their government residence after the fire incident.

A bench headed by Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Ujjwal Bhuiyan said that the internal inquiry committee report and the third defendant’s reply has already been sent to President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the petitioners should first contact them.

According to the bar and bench, before dismissing the petition, the court said, “The Chief Justice has sent the report of the Internal Inquiry Committee and the third defendant to the President and Prime Minister. The petitioner will have to file his complaint by filing a request before the appropriate authorities before the petitioner demanded the mandate writ.”

According to the report of Indian Express, Justice Oka, one of the petitioners, Matthews J. “The President and the Prime Minister will have to take action.”

The court said, “The petitioner has not done so, so we refuse to consider the petition. At this level we do not consider it necessary to look at other prayers.”

Earlier, a panel of judges who conducted an internal investigation into allegations of cash being found at the government residence of Justice Yashwant Verma submitted their report to the then Chief Justice of India, Justice Sanjeev Khanna.

According to the official information of the apex court, a three -member committee, in which Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court Justice G.S. Sandhavalia and Karnataka High Court Judge Justice Anu Shivraman had completed their investigation and have submitted their conclusions in the May 3 date report.
