Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): An FIR has been registered at TT Nagar police station against five including the superintendent at Katju Hospital in connection with the death of a woman allegedly due to negligence during her tubectomy around seven months ago.

The woman’s kin claimed that she was operated without being administered anaesthesia. Police officials said the case has been registered against gynaecologist Dr Sunanda Jain, hospital superintendent Colonel PK Singh, anaesthesia specialist and medical officer medico legal institute GMC Dr Kelu Grewal and paramedical staff.

As per reports, the woman Reena Gaur (34) of Seoni Malwa was admitted to the hospital for tubectomy surgery on May 14, 2024. However, she died some time after being taken inside the operation theatre. Reean’s husband Avinash Gaur said that his wife was fine before the operation.

However, her stomach had swelled when she was brought out of the operation theatre. The doctors and hospital staff claimed that she died of an attack during the surgery. They forced me to sign some documents, the man claimed. Police conducted a post-mortem of the body after much argument but refused to preserve the visra.

Avinash further said that the case has been reregistered after he approached the court. His lawyer Anil Namdev said that this is a case of medical negligence. Anaesthesia experts were present at the hospital but no one accompanied the victim inside the OT which is a violation of IMA (Indian Medical Association) guidelines.
