Finland International School (FIS) has officially inaugurated its campus in Guwahati, marking a significant milestone in the expansion of its educational footprint in India. The announcement was made at a grand event in Mumbai, attended by distinguished dignitaries, including Kimmo Lahdevirta, Ambassador of Finland to India, and Erik af Hallstrom, Consul General of Finland.
The Guwahati campus merges Finland’s globally acclaimed educational practices with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) and an ICSE-aligned curriculum. FIS plans to offer a unique blend of personalized learning and inquiry-based teaching methodologies aimed at fostering creativity, critical thinking, and academic excellence.
Mission of school
The school, founded by Shashank Goenka, Managing Director of Goenka Inc., aims to provide a nurturing environment that focuses on holistic student development. “At FIS, our mission is to nurture creativity, empower children with confidence, and equip them to excel in a rapidly changing world. The launch of FIS Guwahati signifies a bold leap in our journey to set new benchmarks for education across India,” said Shashank Goenka, outlining the vision behind the school.
Partnerships
FIS has partnered with EduCluster Finland to bring world-class education to India. This collaboration is expected to provide robust teacher training programs, customized learning strategies, and innovative educational tools that align with global standards. The aim is to prepare students to succeed in an increasingly competitive and dynamic global environment.
With campuses already operational in Mumbai Racecourse and Thane, FIS is set to expand its reach further across India. “Through our expansion, we are committed to creating a network of schools that uphold global standards while addressing the local educational needs. Our goal is to shape the next generation of leaders by providing child-centric, future-focused education,” said an official representative from FIS.
The Guwahati campus marks the latest step in FIS’s mission to offer a world-class educational experience to students in India, blending international best practices with a strong local cultural foundation.
