Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Fifth case of cyber fraud has been reported within 48 hours in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur, where the fraudsters attempted to dupe a principal of CM Rise School. However, the principal acted wisely and did not fall into their trap.
The principal, Bal Pandey, reportedly received a call from a Pakistan-based (+92) number. The caller posed as a police officer and claimed Pandey’s son had been arrested in a rape case.

The caller demanded immediate payment of a fine for his son to be released. However, Pandey did not panic and confirmed his son’s safety first. He then confronted the scammer.

The caller hung up and switched off the phone. Investigations confirmed that the call’s origin was from Pakistan. After the incident, police have urged citizens to stay alert.
The police have initiated investigations in all such cases. While suspects have been identified in some, others remain under investigation. ASP Suryakant Sharma has urged people to remain cautious of suspicious calls and messages.
Scammers’ strategy is to scare people
Additional Superintendent of Police, Jabalpur, Sonali Dubey said that in today’s digital era, while technology has made life easier, it has also brought new challenges. Many people fall prey to online fraud in their greed to make quick money. Cybercriminals are exploiting people through methods like digital arrest scams, sextortion, e-SIM fraud, remittance scams, fake education schemes, share trading fraud, and fraudulent links on social media platforms like Telegram and Instagram.
Keeping the rising danger of cyber fraud in mind Jabalpur has taken an initiative to spread awareness among the public.
