New Orleans: The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Thursday revealed that Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the US Army veteran who drove his pickup truck into a crowd on Bourbon Street on Wednesday, acted alone. The US probe agency revealed that Jabbar posted five videos on his Facebook account hours before carrying out the attack, reported News18.

In the video, Jabbar claimed to have joined the Islamic State (IS). The FBI also claimed that Jabbar had planted two homemade bombs. “We do not assess at this point that anyone else is involved in this attack except for Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the subject you’ve already been briefed on. This was an act of terrorism. It was premeditated and an evil act,” said Christopher Raia, the deputy assistant director of the FBI’s counterterrorism division as reported by the media house.

“Today, the FBI briefed me that, as of now, we have no information that anyone else is involved in the attack. They’ve established that the attacker was the same person who planted the explosives in those ice coolers in two nearby locations in the French Quarter just a few hours before he rammed into the crowd with his vehicle,” US President Biden told reporters at the White House on Thursday as reported by PTI.

They assess he had a remote detonator in his vehicle to set off those two ice chests,” he said.

“The attacker posted several videos just several hours before the attack indicating his strong support for ISIS. Federal law enforcement and the intelligence community are actively investigating any foreign or domestic contacts or connections that could possibly be relevant to the attack,” said the US president.

Jabbar was shot by the Police. He was a resident of Texas state.

Meanwhile, the FBI also said that there was no link established between the New Orleans attack and the Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday. “At this point, there is no definitive link between the attack here in New Orleans and the one in Las Vegas,” Raia said at a press conference.

At least 15 people, including Jabbar, were killed and 35 injured in the New Orleans attacks. Meanwhile, one person was killed in the explosion outside the Trump International Hotel. The deceased was reported to be the driver of the vehicle.
