MNS spokesperson Ameya Khopkar said that he completely opposed the release of this film. Talking to the media, Ameya said, ‘We came to know about the release of this film today, when the producers announced it. But we want to make it clear that we will not allow this film to be released in Maharashtra, as it has a Pakistani artist. The film will not be released in our state under any circumstances. We are currently gathering more information about the film and will soon release a full statement. We have also tweeted about this.
Leaders’ reaction to film
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam has also responded to the controversy. He said, “India has widespread hatred towards Pakistan.” Indian audiences do not like to watch it when a Pakistani film is released. Even though some people see it interested in it, Pakistani artists have never got great success in India. If the central government has any policy in this regard, it should be implemented. The government has to decide whether Pakistani films should be released in India or their artists should be allowed to work here.
Advice to Pakistani artists
Apart from this, Sanjay advised Pakistani artists that instead of coming to Hindi cinema, he should focus on his industry. Actress Vani Kapoor has shared the teaser of the film ‘Abir Gulal’ on social media. In this, Vani was seen with Fawad Khan stuck in traffic amidst rain in London. Fawad is singing a song for a speech sitting in the car. At the end of the teaser, the voice asks- are you flirting with me? Fawad replied: Do you want me to do it? The film is directed by Aarti S Bagdi. It will be released on 9 May.
