Mumbai: The father of Disha Salian, former manager of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, said on Wednesday he has moved the Bombay High Court seeking a probe into the mysterious circumstances under which she was found dead in June 2020.
Satish Salian has urged registration of an FIR against Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray and sought that the case be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). His lawyer Nilesh Ojha said the petition will be filed on Thursday.
The plea alleged that Disha Salian was “brutally raped, murdered, and subjected to a politically orchestrated cover-up”. The petition claimed it seeks to expose the web of lies, corruption and suppression of facts behind the murder only to protect certain influential persons.
The petitioner has claimed that initially he believed in the probe conducted by the city police but has now learnt that the same was only a cover-up. “The Mumbai police hastily closed the death as a case of suicide or accidental death without taking into account forensic evidence, circumstantial proofs and eyewitness testimonies,” the plea added.
The plea alleged: “The Petitioner contends that Disha’s death was not an accident or a case of suicide, as the authorities have claimed, but rather a premeditated act of violence, wherein she was brutally raped and murdered. The actions of the accused and the immediate political interference in the investigation suggest a deliberate and systematic effort to bury the truth.”
Justifying the delay in filing the petition, Salian said after his daughter’s death he was “overwhelmed with grief, was systematically misled and manipulated by key figures who orchestrated a false narrative to protect the accused”.
Apart from naming Aditya Thackeray, the petition names a few actors who were present at the party, which was initially only meant to be a private affair comprising Disha Salian’s friends,
Earlier, a PIL was filed by ‘Supreme Court & High Court Litigants Association of India’ through its president, Rashid Khan Pathan, seeking the immediate arrest and custodial interrogation of Aditya Thackeray in connection with the mysterious deaths of Actor Sushant Singh Rajput and Disha Salian.
Interestingly, even Aditya Thackeray has filed an intervention application in the PIL contending that the court hear him before passing any order in the PIL. He contended that the PIL was not maintainable as the case was being probed by the state. This PIL is still pending before the Bombay High Court.
Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020 after falling off the 14th floor of a residential building in suburban Malad. The city police had registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) case.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his apartment in suburban Bandra on June 14, 2020. While the city police initially said it was a case of suicide, the CBI was handed over probe in the case later.
