Madhya Pradesh: Fatal Shooting In Khirwa Amid Old Rivalry; One Dead, Several Injured | FP Photo
Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): A violent clash rooted in a long-standing feud escalated into gunfire in Khirwa village, Maharajpur, resulting in one death and multiple injuries.
Bhupchand Pal, 40, was fatally shot in the chest during the altercation. The incident, stemming from a 2023 assault case, involved Sajjan Patel and Damodar Singh’s families.
According to Sajjan Patel, Damodar Singh and his associates opened fire, killing Bhupchand Pal and injuring over a dozen others. He claimed the accused had been pressuring Rampal Pal, a witness in the prior assault case, to retract his statement.
Sajjan alleged that after killing Bhupchand, the accused attacked his house, injuring family members.
Pran Singh, from the opposing side, accused Sajjan Patel and his group of initiating the violence. He stated that Sajjan’s group attacked them with weapons, firing shots and injuring several of his family members.
Police have registered murder charges against Pappu Singh, Man Singh, Shivram Singh, Damodar and Amar Singh. Assault charges have been filed against five individuals from the opposing side.
Injured parties are receiving treatment at Maharajpur and Chhatarpur district hospitals. Former MLA Neeraj Dixit visited the hospital following the incident. Police are investigating the conflicting accounts.
