Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh):

Who’ll be?

The clouds of uncertainty have gathered over the rehabilitation of any officer to an important position with the unexpected rehabilitation of an officer to a post after his retirement. Many retired officers and those who are about to retire have applied for the position. But the way the government is appointing officers to higher positions, it is difficult to say who will get the job, for which there are many aspirants. It is, however, clear that an officer may get rehabilitation after retirement only by pleasing the head of the state and the RSS. A retired officer is making vigorous efforts to get rehabilitated to this position. Because the retired officer lacks confidence in his clout in Bhopal, he is in touch with the BJP leadership in Delhi. The retired officer has already worked in the sector where the position is lying vacant. This is what the retired officer is trying to air to the higher-ups, but now, the way to rehabilitation is strewn with thorns for anyone.

Farmhouse story

The farmhouse of a person, whose name has cropped up in I-T raids, has sparked discussions in the corridors of power. Some officers used to visit the country house on the outskirts of the state capital. Its owner used to meet a few officers. Although some of them never gave any importance to this man, a few came into his grip. About this person, it is said that he used to entertain such officers in his country house that is far from the madding crowd and remains out of public gaze.  During the raids, the I-T Department sleuths came to know of his farmhouse along with other properties. The names of several officers were found in the documents and in the phone call details seized from the possession of this person. Now, the I-T Department is trying to ferret out the names of those who have done land deals with this man. The department is getting ready to serve notices on these officers seeking replies from them.

Return of natives

The Central Government has refused to send a Principal Secretary-rank officer back to the state. On the other hand, there are speculations that two IAS officers are returning, but they are unable to come back for one reason or the other. There are talks about the return of a secretary-rank officer. The head of the state is also interested in the officer’s comeback. A long time has passed since he was in the national capital. The officer himself is in a dilemma over whether he should come back or not. On the other hand, a female Principal Secretary wants to return, because her husband is posted in the state, and there is barely any chance of his deputation to the Centre. So, madam wants to come back, but it has become difficult for her to return from the Centre. The state government is unable to write to the Centre to send her back, and if she herself applies for return, she may not be able to go back to the Union Government in the future, so she is not able to come back to the state.

Once bitten, twice shy

The IAS officers have to undergo training in different phases of their tenure in service. An officer posted in the loop line is happy about going to Mussoorie for training. There is a sensitive issue in the department where the officer is working. He initially handled the issue with sensitivity and received accolades for his efforts, but suddenly, as it raised a hue and cry, he was feeling edgy. Against this backdrop, he has left for Mussoorie where he will stay for a month. Now, it is expected that when he returns, the dust the issue has raised will have partially settled. The maxim – once bitten, twice shy – is applicable to this officer. An issue has increased troubles for him so much that he is still struggling to get rid of it. Ergo, he wants to stay away from any dispute and work peacefully.

All for money

Some people are fed up with the conduct of a senior IAS officer. The Sahib entered into deals with some people and promised them to do their work. They also gave some dosh in advance to the Sahib. He took the sweetener, but did not do their work. Now, these people want the Sahib to return their money. They are calling him up, but he is not taking their calls. Instead of returning the dosh, the Sahib is assuring them of doing some other work. When they mounted pressure on the officer to return the money, he threatened them. The officer lacks efficiency, but spares no effort to take carrots. Similarly, he accepts backhanders, but there is no guarantee that the work of the person who has given money will be done. It happened in the departments where he was previously posted, because those who gave him money failed to get their work done. So, their money went astray.

Ready to work

A retired IAS officer, who was working for an eminent industrialist in the country, has left the organisation. He had been working for the organisation for the past one year. The Sahib is considered intelligent, so he was very important for the industry. He is now working for an association of power producers and holding an important position, but the industrialist the Sahib was working for is considered one of the important players in the power sector. There is no dispute between him and the industrialist behind his leaving the organisation, but he was fed up with travelling. The Sahib had to travel ten days a month in the past one year.  So, he took up a job in the national capital where he wants to stay.  Because he has been working in one organisation or another, those who are about to retire or have already retired may draw inspiration from him.
