Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Be it potato-producing farmers of Mhow, chilli producers of Khargone, cotton producers of Barwani or opium-producing farmers of Mandsaur; they are all getting electricity for irrigation with good voltage, all thanks to the government’s Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

Under this scheme, more than 5,400 additional transformers have been installed in Malwa and Nimar so far. Madhya Pradesh West Region Electricity Distribution Company managing director Rajni Singh said that the work of electricity development and distribution capacity enhancement is being done on time with quality.

“Under the RDSS, additional distribution transformers have been installed in every district. Due to this, farmers are getting better electricity than before, there is no problem even after installing motors of higher horsepower,” she added. “Due to this, on one hand, power interruptions have reduced to a great extent and on the other hand, motors burning or crops getting adversely affected due to lack of water cases have gone down,” she claimed.

There are relatively more farmers in Indore, Ujjain, Ratlam, Dhar, Dewas, Khargone and Mandsaur districts. In these districts, 500 to 700 transformers have been installed under the RDSS. A total of 200 to 400 transformers have also been installed in other districts. Due to the new transformers, apart from farmers, and villagers, other consumers of urban areas have also benefited. Additional transformers have also been installed in big cities. The MD said that these transformers have been installed on the basis of GIS. Their complete information is available along with the access road on a single click.
