Faridabad, September 4 (HS). In view of the upcoming assembly elections, the police is fully alert to curb liquor smuggling in the city. The police have arrested 12 liquor smugglers from different places in one day and recovered 26 boxes of illegal liquor and 01 scooty.
Police spokesperson said on Wednesday that the arrested accused include Amit resident of Nangla Enclave Part 1, Shiv and Amit Kumar resident of SGM Nagar, Mukesh resident of Trikha Colony, Sunil Kumar resident of Nangla Enclave Part 2, Bunty resident of Dabua Colony, Prince resident of Sector 22, Yogesh resident of AC Nagar, Rakesh resident of Dayal Nagar, Rajesh resident of Gandhi Colony, Sonu resident of Khedi Pul and Neeraj resident of Ballabhgarh. The team of Faridabad Police Station Saran SGM Nagar, Mujesar, Kotwali and Surajkund and Crime Branch 48, 30, Central, Unchagaon and NIT arrested 12 accused with illegal liquor in Police Station Saran, Surajkund, Kotwali, Khedipul, SGM Nagar, Mujesar, Dabua, NIT and City Ballabhgarh area.
26 boxes of illicit liquor and 01 scooty were recovered from their possession. The recovered illicit liquor includes 24 boxes of country liquor and 02 boxes of English liquor. During police interrogation, the accused told that they were greedy to earn money by buying liquor from nearby shops and selling it at a higher price in retail, hence the police arrested them along with the illicit liquor. A case has been registered against the accused under the sections of Illegal Liquor Act in the concerned police station. After interrogation, action has been taken against the accused as per law.
