To ease traffic and reduce traffic jams in Faridabad, a four kilometer long elevated flyover will be built from Sainik Colony to ESI Chowk. After completion of the survey of this project, Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared. The estimated expenditure on flyover construction will be Rs 225 crore and it is targeted to be completed in two years.
Purpose of planning and need for formulation
Traffic problem:
- The road from Sainik Colony to ESI Chowk is narrow, due to which there is traffic jam throughout the day.
- This road is the main route for vehicles going from Gurugram to NIT.
- Due to traffic jam, it takes up to half an hour to cover a distance of 10 minutes.
Need for flyover:
- Construction of elevated flyover will provide relief from traffic jam on this route.
- Connectivity between Sector-12, Old Faridabad, and Greater Faridabad will improve.
Project Budget and Process
Budget of Rs 225 crore:
- The project will cost approximately Rs 225 crore.
- After revising and finalizing the budget, it will be sent to the government for approval.
Feasibility Report:
- FMDA (Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority) has prepared the survey and feasibility report of the project.
- The DPR (Detailed Project Report) has been finalized and will be sent to the government in four to five days.
Other major road schemes related to the project
North-West Project:
- From Badkhal Village-Ankhir Chowk to Greater Faridabad:
- An elevated U-turn road will be built through Badkhal flyover.
- This road will connect to Greater Faridabad.
From Pyali Chowk to Bata ROB:
- This route will connect to the highway via Bata ROB from Sainik Colony via Pyali Chowk.
Sector-12 Underpass:
- An underpass will be built on the highway near Khatu Shyam Mandir in Sector-12, which will make traffic more convenient.
Major benefits of flyover
- Relief from jam:
- After the construction of the flyover, the travel time from Sainik Colony to ESI Chowk will be reduced.
- Better Connectivity:
- Traffic between Sector-12, Greater Faridabad and NIT area will be easy.

FMDA Chief Engineer Ramesh Bagri said,
“The DPR of the flyover is ready. According to the feasibility report, the budget was slightly higher, efforts are on to reduce it. The DPR will be sent to the government for approval in four to five days.”
