Farhan Akhtar’s 2013 film ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ was not only a blockbuster hit at the box office, but it became one of the biggest films in his career. The budget of this film on the life of the great athlete Milkha Singh was only Rs 41 crore, but it made a worldwide collection of about Rs 170 crore at the box office.
Farhan Akhtar’s amazing performance and body transformation was highly appreciated. But do you know that Farhan got the real motivation for this film, not from Milkha Singh but a news reporter?
When the reporter raised questions on Farhan’s casting
Farhan Akhtar told in an interview that when the official announcement of the film took place in Chandigarh, a press conference was held there.
Reporter’s question:
“Hi Rakesh, I want to ask you why you chose Farhan Akhtar for this role?
On this question, the director of the film Rakesh Omprakash Mehra said with decency and said:
“We wanted the best actor for this character, so we cast Farhan.”
But this question began to resonate in Farhan’s mind.
This question shook Farhan Akhtar inside
Farhan Akhtar said that the press conference was over, but that question did not come out of his mind.
“I felt that I could be the right of this, I would have to prove this character in every situation.”
After this, Farhan completely thrown himself into this role. He completely assimilated everything Milkha Singh’s lifestyle, body language, how to speak and training.
After the release of the film, Farhan told the reporter ‘thank you’
When ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ was released and proved to be a super hit, Farhan Akhtar once again visited Chandigarh. The screening of the film was held there, in which the press was also present with Milkha Singh and his family.
Farhan Akhtar found the female reporter and met him.
Farhan Akhtar said:
“I told that reporter- Thank you very much! Because your question gave me so much energy that I can come back here and do justice to my character.”
This story proves that sometimes criticism can also inspire a person to move forward and give his best performance. Farhan Akhtar not only killed in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, but he also proved that a true artist is recognized not from language or region, but with his hard work and ability.
