Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A Special Court of Enforcement Directorate on Thursday denied permission to family members of Saurabh Sharma, Chetan Singh Gaur, and Sharad Jaiswal, currently on a six-day remand, to meet them.
However, the court has permitted the lawyers of the accused to meet them, sources said.
Sharma, a former Transport Department constable, and his two aides were arrested under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) this Monday.
The families of the trio moved the application seeking permission to meet them after repeatedly being turned away by ED officials since their remand began on Tuesday.
Sharma’s advocate Rakesh Parashar confirmed that the court has allowed only the lawyers to meet the accused, denying permission to their families.
Meanwhile, the three accused were taken to J.P. hospital for a medical checkup amid tight security. Sources said the ED officials are questioning the three over digital forensic evidence and a bunch of documents. However, the accused are neither admitting nor denying anything, they said.
