Ahead Of Holi, Food Authorities Conducted A Raid; Found Fake Mawa in Sweet Shops | FPJ

Bhind (Madhya Pradesh): The Food Safety Department has intensified checks ahead of Holi. A team food inspectors conducted checks at some sweets establishments in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind on Wednesday. Samples of food items were sent for testing at a laboratory in Bhopal.

The food testing of samples taken from shops at Tehsil Mehgaon and Tehsil Gohad in Bhind, ‘mawa’ or ‘khoya’ were found to be adulterated.

During the inspection, authorities caught a sweet shop in Gohad allegedly preparing fake mawa, leading to immediate action against the establishment. Officials also inspected Shri Bajrang Dairy in Mehgaon (owned by Satyandera Singh), where a sample of Mawa Batti was taken.

Additionally, samples of milk-cake from Jain Misthan Bhandar (Owned by Ashok Jain), Gohad and Besan ke ladoos from Ganshyam Misthan Bhandar (Owned by Ganshyam Gupta) have been taken for testing.

All the samples are sent to the laboratory in Bhopal for testing. Also, it was found food was being prepared in unhygienic conditions at Jain Misthan Bhandar and Ghanshyam Misthan Bhandar in Gohad.

Notice issued to shopkeepers

Apart from this, food items were being sold uncovered, which is a violation of food safety standards. The food safety team issued notices to both shopkeepers and directed them to improve kitchen sanitation as soon as possible. Food Safety Department Officer Reena Bansal said that strict action will be taken against establishments that do not follow adulteration and hygiene norms.

The raid was led by Food Safety Officers Reena Bansal and Rekha Soni and Junior Supply Officers Shriram Tomar in Mehgaon and Ajay Asthana in Gohad.
