Hyderabad (Sindh): There is widespread opposition in Sindh against the construction of the dam in the northern part of the Indus River and transporting the water collected in its lake to the Olisha desert of Punjab. Due to this, the water flow of Indus River in Sindh is likely to decrease.

Against this decision of the federal government of Pakistan, lawyers have started a sit -in near Babarbav bypass in Khairpur, causing traffic to come to a standstill on the national highway.

In this regard, lawyers and other civil groups have said that their protests will continue until the federal government withdraws its decision.

Apart from this, civil society and transporters have said that not a single truck from Sindh will be able to go to Punjab. Significantly, apart from other grains, the entire Pakistan is also dependent on Sindh for rice. Now the trucks carrying rice will not be allowed to enter Punjab, so there is a possibility of shortage of rice in the near future. This situation is also a matter of widespread fear in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Apart from this, no raw material coming from Sindh will go to Punjab, so the industries there are likely to be affected.

A strict lockdown has been installed in Khairpur, his area of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Apart from this, lawyers and other citizens have staged protests in many places including Ghotka, Hyderabad (Sindh), Barkana, Nawabshah, Mainar Palm Site. He says that until the government (Islamabad) withdraws this decision, the flywheel jam will continue. Schools, colleges, private businesses and government offices will remain closed throughout Sindh. According to the report of Geo News, the series has been going on for the last 9 days and a meeting was held in Islamabad on Thursday between Prime Minister Shahwaz Sharif and Pakistan People’s Party President Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
