Islamabad: An explosion took place in the premises of a police station in Pakistani capital Islamabad On Saturday (January 4), said Pakistani media. The police station is located in the I-9 area of Islamabad.
As per local media, nobody was injured. The explosion however shook the outer wall of the police station.
It has been reported that the police found metal pieces near the wall. the incident is being investigated.
This is not the first time a police station in Islamabad has been targeted. In 2022, similar incident took place at police station at I-1O area of Islamabad. However, this was a suicide attack which killed one person and injured several others.
A police officer was killed in a terrorist attack in Pakistan’s Bannu (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) in December. An official told ARY News that the police official, a Head Constable was taken to District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem.
Before that, in an attack mounted by unknown assailants in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa killed a police official and a polio worker. The police officials were guarding a team that was conducting anti-polio drive in Banda Dawood Shah area of Karak.
On December 2, 2024, a mortar shell explosion in Bannu killed at least three children. The tragedy occurred in Sintanga Jani Khel area of Bannu. Students in a seminary here were playing with the mortar shell when it exploded.
