Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025 will start from 1 February and the exam will be held till 2, 15, and 16 February 2025. This year the examination will be conducted by IIT Roorkee. The exam will be in two shifts: 9:30 am to 12:30 am and from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Candidates who have not been able to download their admit card yet, they can download it by visiting the official website goaps.

Exam Day Guidelines:

  • Admission will not be available in the examination center without admit card. Along with this, it is also mandatory to bring a valid ID proof (such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, voter ID etc.).
  • The examination will be conducted online at various centers across the country. Candidates are advised to reach the examination center at least 90 minutes before the examination starts.

Don’t take it:

  • Candidates cannot bring books, charts, tables, loose sheets, paper, data or handbook, pouches, box etc. in the examination hall. If someone is found with such things, it will be disqualified, whether they use them or not.
  • Calculator, pager, mobile phones, watches and other electronic equipment are prohibited to bring to the examination center. A virtual calculator will be made available at the examination center.
  • Candidates can log in 20 minutes before the examination starts and read the instructions of the examination. They can bring a pen, pencil and a transparent water bottle.

Exam Pattern:

  • GATE 2025 Exam will be conducted in 30 subjects. Candidates should have complete knowledge about the structure of the examination, such as the duration of the examination, the marking scheme and the form of the question paper.
  • The exam will be held in online mode and will be held in English. The total duration of the examination will be 3 hours.

Question Type and Marking Scheme:

  • General Qualification: 15 points
  • Engineering Mathematics: 13 points
  • Special questions: 72 digits
  • Total marks: 100 points

For some subjects (AR, CY, DA, EY, GG, Ma, PH, ST, XH, and XL):

  • General Qualification: 15 points
  • Special questions: 85 digits
  • Total marks: 100 points

Negative marking:

  • For 1 -marks MCQ questions: 1/3 marks will be deducted on the wrong answer.
  • For 2 marks MCQ questions: 2/3 marks will be deducted on the wrong answer.
  • There is no negative marking for MSQ and NAT questions.
