Deoria (Uttar Pradesh), February 24: In a shameful incident, a man was arrested for brutally beating an elderly couple in the middle of the road in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria on Monday (February 24). His shameful act was caught on camera and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. It can be seen in the video that the man is inhumanely hitting the elderly man and the woman with kicks and slaps in front of a crowd.
The people present on the spot remained silent spectators and did not intervene to stop the man from committing the evil act of hitting such old and helpless people in the middle of the road.
Land Dispute With Neighbour
There are reports that the incident occurred over a land dispute between neighbours. The couple was assaulted in Vishunpura Pratham area which falls under the Gauribazar Police Station limits. The video shows that the man is hitting the elderly man with kicks and punches as he is fallen to the ground. A woman is also seen standing while holding the hands of the elderly man as the accused hits him.
The elderly woman is seen standing nearby, who then tries to intervene and stop the man from beating the old man. The man then brutally slaps the elderly woman, due to which she falls to the ground. He then kicks the woman repeatedly.
As per reports, the victims have been identified as Ramgyani and his wife, Nimita Devi. The report further stated that Ramgyani had a property dispute with his neighbour who has been identified as Ashish Pandey.
Police Action
The police registered a complaint in connection with the matter and initiated an investigation into the matter. The police have registered a complaint against Ashish Pandey and one other person into the matter. Pandey has been arrested and the police have initiated a search operation to nab the other accused.
The police reacted to the viral video and said, “A case has been registered in connection with the matter and the accused has been taken into custody and action is being taken as per rules.”
