Goa BJP MLA accused his own government: Former BJP MLA from Goa Pandurang Madkikar on Wednesday accused his own party government of indulging in corruption. He claimed that on the orders of a minister, he had to pay a bribe of Rs 15-20 lakh to pursue a file. Madkikar did not name the minister. Madkiker was the Minister of Energy in the cabinet of Manohar Parrikar from 2017-2019. He has also been the Transport Minister in the Congress government. He said, ‘Nothing is happening.’ All ministers are busy counting money only. Nothing is happening in Goa.

He had to pay a bribe of Rs 15-20 lakh to settle a file.

Pandurang Madkikar said, ‘Last week I paid about Rs 15-20 lakh to a minister for a small work. I do not want to mention his name. He took a file that I had processed by the department. He took the file and went home and gave the message that if anyone comes to pick up that file, he will have to meet him.

On this matter, Madkikar further said, ‘I sent my manager to meet the minister. He asked me to meet his PA and his PA directly demanded Rs 15-20 lakh. This amount was given last week. It was a regular function. I have also been a minister. I am familiar with the procedures adopted in the department. I will take his name while leaving the party.

At least 50% of the MLAs will be new in the next election

Madkikar called corruption in Goa a robbery and said, “A lot is happening in Goa.” Every minister is busy counting money. For which some method is being tried. People are waiting for these ministers to be sent home. At least 50 percent of the MLAs will be new in the next election.

Madkikar is still a BJP member. He made these allegations while talking to the media after meeting the party’s national secretary BL Santosh. He was removed from the BJP cabinet in early 2019 due to health problems. His wife was given a ticket for the 2022 assembly elections by the party, but she lost to Congress candidate Rajesh Faldesai, who later joined the BJP.
