In the stock market, small companies have given the highest returns to investors by performing well in the financial year 2024-25 under weak market conditions. Experts said that the market failed to maintain high evaluation due to weak results in the last few quarters, resulting in the market improvement.

In the financial year 2024-25, the BSE Smallcap index increased by 3,471.79 points, or 8%, while the midcap index increased by 2,209 points, or 5.61%. In contrast, the BSE Sensex increased by 3,763.57 points or 5.10% throughout the financial year. Thus, even in the weak market, Smallcap provided the most benefits to investors. Lemon Markets Desk analyst Satish Chandra Aluri said that the financial year 2024–25 ended with a strong jump in March after a decline of five months in a row. Small companies performed better than big companies.

Sensex disappoints investors

Tarun Singh, founder and managing director of Hybro Securities, said that the Indian stock market performed strongly in FY 2024-25 and maintained balance despite global challenges. The election results have increased market confidence, ensuring policy continuity. However, he said that the increase of five percent in the Sensex during the year is not encouraging. According to experts, midcap and smallcap segments perform better than their large counterparts during market boom.

Market will reach record high in September 2024

The BSE Smallcap index reached an all -time high of 57,827.69 on December 12 last year. While the midcap index reached a record high of 49,701.15 on 24 September 2024. Additionally, the Sensex reached an all -time high of 85,978.25 points on 27 September 2024. According to analysts, shares of small companies are usually purchased by local investors, while foreign investors focus on large companies. It is noteworthy that in FY 2023-24, the BSE Midcap index rose by 15,013.95 points i.e. 62.38 percent, while smallcap increased 16,068.99 points, or 59.60 percent. In contrast, the BSE Sensex recorded an increase of 14,659.83 points or 24.85 percent.
