A case of attempt to marry a minor girl has come to light in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place near Ramlila Maidan in Etawah city Kotwali area. On receiving information about marriage to the minor, the police took immediate action and stopped the marriage and arrested five people from both sides including the groom and action has been taken in peace.
What is the whole matter?
Ramshankar, a resident of Kandhiya village in Auraiya district, came to Etawah for the wedding of his son Kamlesh. It was revealed during the marriage that the girl is a minor. On receiving the information from the police, the team reached the spot and brought the groom Kamlesh, his father Ramshankar and the groom’s brother -in -law Amit to the police station.
Groom’s charge
Arrested groom Kamlesh told the police that the marriage with the elder sister was finalized, but after the elder sister ran away, the family was now marrying the younger minor sister.
Police action
CO City Ram Gopal said that after receiving the information, the police immediately reached the spot and stopped the marriage of a 12 -year -old minor girl. The girl was taken to the One Stop Center and produced before the Child Welfare Committee. The committee has been instructed not to get married until the girl is adult.
In this case, the groom Kamlesh, his father Ramshankar and three other people have been arrested and action has been taken under Shantibhang. Police has clarified that the girl cannot get married until it is adult.
