The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has pure 17.89 lakh new members in January 2025. On an annual basis, the total number of members has registered an increase of 11.48%. 8.23 lakh people became a member of EPFO for the first time among the newly added, which is 1.87% higher than in January 2024.
Increase in the number of employees in the age group of 18-25 years
According to EPFO data, there has been a tremendous jump in the number of youth getting jobs for the first time.
- In January 2025, 4.70 lakh youth came into job for the first time, showing an increase of 57.07%.
- The net payroll in the age group of 18–25 years was 7.27 lakhs, which is 6.19% from December 2024 and 8.15% higher than January 2024.
Net parole: contribution of new and returning employees
Net payroll reflects employees who:
- First joined the job.
- Leaving the job and started a new job after some time.
- Moved to another company and remained connected to EPFO.

- Export services
- Road Motors & Transport
- Bidi manufacture
- Manufacturing industry
- Fruit-vegetable processing
Increase in women’s participation
- 2.17 lakh women subscribed to EPFO in January.
- State -wise share:
- The total stake of 5 states and union territories was 59.98%.
- Maharashtra added the maximum 22.77 lakh new members.
- Other major states: Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana.
