The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has announced that 1.61 million members have joined the organization in February this year. If we compare it from February 2024 last year, then there has been an increase of 3.99 percent on an annual basis. This difference clearly indicates that awareness among employees in relation to benefits has increased considerably compared to before.
Let us tell you that in February 2025, EPFO has registered around 7,39,000 new members. The Ministry of Labor and Employment said that this number of new members is due to increasing employment opportunities, increasing awareness about employee benefits and successful outreach programs of EPFO. New members are those who are joining EPFO for the first time.
It is growing every year.
It is noteworthy that around 1.31 million members, who were earlier out of the EPFO, re -joined the EPFO in February 2025. Which shows an increase of 11.85 percent on an annual basis. The ministry said, “These members have changed their jobs and have re -joined the EPFO.
How many new members joined?
The remarkable thing in the data is that there is dominance of the age group of 18 to 25 years. In February 2025, 4,27,000 new members of this age group are added, which is 57.71 percent of the total new members involved in the period under review. Additionally, in February 2025, the increment figure for the 18–25 age group has reached around 6,78,000, which shows an increase of 3.01 percent as compared to February 2024.
Women’s participation has also increased.
In February 2025, EPFO has added around 2,08,000 new women members. Which shows an increase of 1.26 percent on an annual basis. The total increase in women’s salary was around 3,37,000, which is an increase of 9.23 percent from February 2024. The ministry said that the increase in the number of women members indicates extensive changes towards more inclusive and diverse workforce.
