New Delhi: The Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has done a big job. EPFO has automatically settled 60% of advance withdrawal claims. Thus 2.16 crore cases have been settled in this financial year. Last year, 89.52 lakh claims were settled. Labor and Employment Minister Shobha Karandalaje gave this information in the Lok Sabha. He informed that the limit of advance payment has also been increased to Rs 1 lakh. This will make it even easier for people to take advantage of EPFO services.
The EPFO has taken several steps to make its work even easier. Now the claims of categories like disease, home, education and marriage are also being settled in an automatic manner. According to the Labor Minister, the claim is cleared in three days with this auto mode. He said, ‘EPFO has settled 2.16 crore claims in this financial year by 6 March 2025. This is a record. In the last financial year 2023-24, 89.52 lakh claims were settled. This shows how serious the EPFO is to improve its work and meet the needs of the people.
The process of correcting information has become easier
The EPFO has also made the process of correcting the information of the members easier. Members who have Aadhaar verified can make changes in their universal account number (UAN) themselves. Now EPFO does not need to interfere in it.
Nowadays, about 96% improvements are made without going to EPF office. More than 99% of claims are deposited online. As of March 2025, 7.14 crore claims have been registered online. This shows how much EPFO is paying attention to working in a digital way.
For the first transfer claim, it was necessary to verify the base verified UAN with the employer. Now this rule has also been removed. This has made it very easy for members.
Claim is correct or wrong… it is already known
Apart from this, EPFO has also provided facilities for those members whose account was accidentally connected to an institution. Now they can separate their account. The facility was launched on January 18, 2025. By the end of February, more than 55,000 members have separated their accounts. All this is being done so that the accounts of the members can be properly managed and they can control their information themselves.
EPFO has done another good job. Now it already tells the members whether their claim is correct or not. This can prevent the wrong claims from being filed. This is called upfront validation.
