Mumbai’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has now become involved in the controversy surrounding comedian Kunal Kamra’s indirect jibes at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction has filed a written complaint with the EOW, demanding an investigation into the funding of Kamra’s show held in Khar.

According to EOW sources, the complaint was submitted on Wednesday, alleging that Kamra may have been financially backed to defame Eknath Shinde. However, the EOW has not yet initiated an official inquiry into the matter.

Meanwhile, Kunal Kamra has apologized to audience members who were summoned by the Mumbai Police for questioning regarding the show. Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Kamra revealed that a Navi Mumbai resident who had attended the event had to cancel his travel plans due to the summons. Expressing regret, Kamra stated that he was sorry for the inconvenience caused.

However, Khar Police clarified that the individual was only called to record his statement as a witness. Additionally, the police have issued a third summons to Kunal Kamra, instructing him to appear on April 5 for further questioning.
