Mumbai: A robust security arrangement has been implemented in South Mumbai for the Maharashtra Cabinet’s swearing-in ceremony at Azad Maidan on Thursday, November 5. Additionally, traffic regulations in the vicinity of Azad Maidan have been temporarily altered.

The swearing-in ceremony for the newly formed state cabinet is set for Thursday evening at Azad Maidan. The event will be attended by political leaders, dignitaries, and a large number of citizens. To ensure law and order, the Mumbai Police, under the guidance of Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar, Special Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, and Joint Commissioner (Law and Order) Satyanarayan Chaudhary, has made elaborate security arrangements.

For the smooth conduct of the event, the police will deploy 5 Additional Commissioners of Police, 15 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 29 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 520 Police Officers, 3,500 Constables, as well as special units such as SRPF platoons, Quick Response Teams (QRT), Riot Control Units, Delta Force, and Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS).

The police have urged citizens attending the event to follow instructions, report any suspicious objects, and contact police helplines (100, 112) for immediate assistance.

Anticipating a large turnout, traffic police have implemented temporary traffic changes in the area from Thursday afternoon until midnight. A dedicated team consisting of 1 Additional Commissioner of Police, 3 Deputy Commissioners of Police, 30 Police Officers, and 250 Constables will oversee traffic management.

No parking facilities will be available at Azad Maidan. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport such as trains and buses to reach the venue.

Restricted Routes and Alternatives:

BMC Road: Traffic from CST Junction to Vasudev Balwant Phadke Chowk (Metro Junction) will be restricted.
Alternative: Vehicles can use Lokmanya Tilak Marg via Chakla Junction and D.N. Road.

Mahatma Gandhi Road: Both lanes from Chafekar Bandhu Chowk to Vasudev Balwant Phadke Chowk will be closed.
Alternative: Use Lokmanya Tilak Marg or Maharshi Karve Road.

Hazari Mal Somani Road: Traffic will be restricted from Chafekar Bandhu Chowk to CST Junction.
Alternative: Use Hutatma Chowk, Kala Ghoda, and Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg.

Princess Street Bridge (Meghdoot Bridge): Southbound traffic will be diverted via N.S. Road.

Ramabhau Salgaonkar Road: Double-lane traffic will be operational between 12 PM and 8 PM.

The police appeal to citizens to cooperate with traffic regulations to ensure a smooth and secure event.
