In a shocking incident reported from Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh, the parents of a BTech graduate died by suicide after their son confessed about being in a relationship with transgender and wanting to marry her.

The incident unfolded when the middle-aged couple were discussing about his marriage and suggesting him to marry a girl of their choice. However, the son refused to tie the knot with anyone other than his transgender lover. Unable to stand this, the couple ended their life of humiliation.

Parents consume pesticides

When the only son of Nandyal residents Subbu Rayadu and Saraswati, Sunil, fell in love with a transgender named Smitha and refused to marry the girl of the parents’ choice, Sunil’s parents killed themselves by consuming pesticides.

Son counselled at police station

According to a report by the Times of India, the disturbing incident involved the parents taking Sunil for counselling at a local police station. But he turned down his parents bluntly and mentioned to only marry Smitha. Following this, the dejected parents, who felt humiliated of their son’s decision, consumed pesticides to put an end to their lives.

Sunil’s parents passed away at a government hospital after being rushed for medical attention.

Transgender community ‘harassed’ parents

Reports alleged that a group of transgenders close to Sunil’s lover were harassing the man’s parents.

No police complaint or case has been lodged so far in this regard.

Engineer-turned-auto driver

It was learned that Sunil, an engineer who turned an autorickshaw driver after completing his B.Tech was in love with a transgender named Smith. They were in a relationship for three years, which he aimed to complete with marriage. However, his parents could agree of their son marrying a transgender.
