BMW Motorrad has officially pulled the plug on its most affordable motorcycles in India — the G 310 R and G 310 GS. Launched in 2018 and developed in partnership with TVS Motor Company, both models served as entry points into the BMW brand for nearly seven years. However, sources suggest that the duo has now been discontinued, likely due to a combination of factors including stricter OBD-2B emission norms that came into effect from April 1, 2025, and declining demand.

Additionally, both models were nearing the end of their product lifecycle and faced stiff competition from rivals offering better features and performance. With their exit, the G 310 RR — a rebadged version of the TVS Apache RR 310 — now remains BMW’s most accessible offering in the Indian market.

Launched in 2018 after a long wait, the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS were the result of a partnership between BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company. These bikes were the smallest in BMW’s global lineup and played a key role in making the brand more accessible. Both models were built at TVS’s Hosur facility and also exported to international markets.

In their debut year, BMW sold 1,640 units in India, accounting for nearly 75% of its total sales. Production of the G 310 R and G 310 GS ended in January 2025, and with heavy year-end discounts offered, most of the stock has likely been cleared. While the G 310 R has been removed from BMW India’s official website, the G 310 GS continues to be listed, suggesting limited units may still be available.

Both the BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS shared the same 313 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produced 34 bhp at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, this engine also powered other key components like the chassis and cycle parts in both models. The G 310 R had a top speed of 145 kmph, while the adventure-oriented G 310 GS topped out at 143 kmph.
