Information about encounter
An encounter between security forces and Naxalites took place on Saturday morning in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The encounter took place in the forest of the Keralapal police station area, where a joint team of security forces was on an anti -Naxal campaign. According to officials, 16 Naxalites have been confirmed in this encounter.
Encounter on Gogunda hill
A direct encounter took place between security forces and Naxalites on the hill of Gogunda located in Upampalli region. The campaign is being monitored by the Superintendent of Police of Sukma district. He informed that searching of security forces is still going on. Additional contingents of DRG and CRPF have been sent to the encounter site.
A large number of soldiers involved in the campaign
More than 1000 security personnel are involved in this operation. The campaign was started from Friday night, when the presence of Maoists in Keralapal area was reported. The joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) initiated action on the basis of this information.
Firing still continues
Officials said that there is intermittent firing from both sides and detailed information is yet to come.
