On Tuesday, Girls Will Be Girls co-producer Richa Chadha and executive producer Ali Fazal hosted a special screening in Mumbai, attended by Dia Mirza, Tisca Chopra, Konkona Sensharma, Anjum Sharma, Rasika Dugal, Vijay Varma, Shweta Tripathi with husband Chaitanya Sharma, Priyanshu Painyuli, Aditi Rao Hydari, and several other notable celebrities.

An inside video from the screening is going viral, which shows Konkana breaking down in tears after watching the Indo-French coming-of-age drama, Girls Will Be Girls. She was also seen hugging co-producer Richa Chadha. Meanwhile, Dia appeared emotional as well and praised the film’s lead actor, Kesav Binoy Kiron.

Girls Will Be Girls premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, where it bagged two awards including the Audience Award in the World Cinema Dramatic Category.

The film, written and directed by Shuchi Talati, marks her directorial debut and stars newcomers Preeti Panigrahi and Kani Kusruti. It is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Girls Will Be Girls is about the story of 18-year-old girl named Mira (Preeti) and how she explores the challenges of adolescence. Things take a dramatic turn when Srinivas (Kesav) enters her life and a love blossoms between the duo. However, their relationship faces challenges under the strict scrutiny of Mira’s mother, Anila (Kani Kusruti).

The film explores themes including womanhood and parent-child relationship.
