Elon Musk, the richest man in the world and the head of the multi-billion dollar companies Tesla, X, and SpaceX, among others, is also now arguably the most influential man in the incoming White House. President-elect Donald Trump has had Elon Musk by his side at all points.
The Systems Are Too Old
In fact, he rewarded his de facto lieutenant with a department, The Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, with former Republican presidential nominee, Vivek Ramaswamy. Although the department is not officially in place, it has made advances in suggesting radical policy changes.

Musk, invoking the apparent inefficiency in systems used in the government, said, “The Federal government computers & software are in such bad shape that they often cannot verify that payments are not fraud, waste or abuse!”
After rules, regulations and people, Musk appears to now has taken on devices.
Attributing sluggish governmental proceedings to the allegedly ‘anachronistic’ systems, he said, “That’s why the government can’t pass basic audits. They often LITERALLY don’t know where your tax dollars went. It’s insane.”
Need To Fix ‘IT’
Furthering his interest of floating job postings with little to no incentives (as he had suggested for the DOGE department), Musk added, “My preferred title in the new administration is Volunteer IT Consultant.”
Once again, Musk is looking to empty seats while filling them with non-career side hustle options.
He further added, “Need to fix the IT infrastructure in order to make government work. This is a grind & hardly glorious, but we can’t make government efficient & fix the deficit if the computers don’t work.”
Reacting to one sarcastic response to his main post, Musk added by saying the system in use at the governmental service is much worse than what one could imagine.
