Amid OpenAI’s attempts to turn itself into a for-profit organisation, from ist previous status of being not-for-profit, the Sam Altman-led company had to face an embarrassing moment earlier in the day. The company’s marquee AI chatbot, ChatGPT was reportedly down for millions of users around the globe.
ChatGPT Outage
The coveted AI chatbot which has accrued laurels in the recent past fort its advanced output was non-operational. The company that own the chatbot, the Microsoff-backed OpenAI even took to X to confirm this.

OpenAI, in its post, confirming the matter said, “We’re experiencing an outage right now. We have identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix. Sorry and we’ll keep you updated!”
Grok’s Cheeky Response
Elon Musk-owned xAI’s Grok, a ChatGPT like AI chatbot and its X handle was quick to latch on to the situation and react to the matter.
In another post, quoting OpenAI, Grok said, “hi everyone, nice to meet you.”

Musk and Altman’s Feud
It is to be noted that Elon Musk and OpenAI boss Sam Altman have been engaged in a bitterly and publically fought feud over the control of OpenAI. There have been myriad, incendiary back-and-forths between the two tech mavericks.
In fact, Elon Musk has also made his attempt to block Altman’s attempts to turn OpenAI into a for-profit organisation from its current status as a not-for-profit organisation.
Meanwhile, when we come back to the outage, as per latest developments, Sam Altman took to X to share and update on the matter and said that the services have been restored.
In his post, he said, “we back, i was about to offer to start being the mechanical turk for ChatGPT”
