Indian Space Research Org.zation ISRO has launched a new satellite. The name of this satellite is GSAT-N2 or GSAT-20. This satellite was launched from Elon Musk’s SpaceX rocket. These satellites will be used to provide internet services in aircraft in India and to provide internet services in remote areas of India. Know more details.
Till now in-flight internet was not allowed in India. But now the government has changed the rules. Now passengers will be able to use internet on their phones even when they reach an altitude of 3000 meters in the aircraft. The government has also made it clear that passengers will be allowed to use internet facility through WiFi only if the use of electronic devices is permitted in the aircraft even after reaching such altitude.
Why help SpaceX?
India’s own rocket Mark-3 can send into space only satellites weighing up to 4000 kg. But the weight of GSAT-N2 is 4700 kg. Which is too much. Therefore ISRO decided to take the help of American company SpaceX. SpaceX’s rockets are very powerful and big. Hence it was able to launch GSAT-N2 into space. This will be the first time that ISRO has used a rocket from another company.
what will be the benefit
This satellite will not only provide internet facility during air travel but will also provide internet to those areas of India where internet facility has not yet reached.
What is ISRO’s GSAT-N2 satellite?
GSAT-20 is a highly advanced satellite developed by ISRO. This satellite will provide fast internet service in India. Especially on airplanes. This satellite has many antennas. Which can send internet signals to different places. This antenna is very efficient and can allow multiple people to access the internet at the same time.
will work for 14 years
GSAT-N2 is a very large satellite. Its weight is 4700 kg. This satellite will be able to work for 14 years. This satellite is very important for India. Because it will provide fast internet service all over India. This satellite has 32 rays out of which 8 rays are for North-East India and the remaining 24 rays are for the whole of India. With the help of this beam, fast internet can be provided in different parts of India.
The GSAT-N2 satellite is equipped with special communication equipment. Which is called Ka-band High-Throughput Satellite (HTS). With the help of this device, this satellite can send data at a very high speed of about 48 gigabits per second.
