New Delhi, 23 November (Hindustan Reporter). Counting of votes is underway for the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections and by-elections for 48 assembly seats in 15 states. The trends so far show the return of the ruling parties. In Jharkhand, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-led Indi Alliance seems to be getting majority, while on the other hand, in Maharashtra, BJP-led Mahayuti alliance seems to be getting a big majority.
According to the Election Commission data, out of 81 seats in Jharkhand, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha is leading on 29 seats, Congress on 13 and Rashtriya Janata Dal on 5 seats. Whereas BJP is ahead on 28 seats, AJSU, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and Janata Dal (U) are ahead on one seat each. Apart from this, independent candidates are ahead on one and one CPIML seat.
BJP is emerging as the largest party in 288 seats of Maharashtra. BJP is leading on 126 seats, Shiv Sena is leading on 54 seats and NCP is leading on 35 seats. On the other hand, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) is leading on 19 seats, Congress on 18 seats and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) on 14 seats. MIMIM has lead on 2 seats, Samajwadi Party on two seats. Apart from this, other parties are leading on 7 seats and independents are leading on only 7 seats.
In the by-elections held on Wayanad and Nanded seats of Lok Sabha, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra (Congress) is leading on Wayanad seat and Dr. Santukrao Marotrao Hambarde (BJP) is leading on Nanded seat of Maharashtra. At the same time, in the by-elections held on 48 assembly seats across the country, out of 5 seats in Assam, BJP is ahead on two, Assam Gana Parishad on one, UPP Liberal on one and Congress on one.
At the same time, out of four assembly seats in Bihar, BJP is ahead on two, and allies Janata Dal (U) and Hindust. Awam Morcha (Secular) are ahead on two. BJP is ahead on one seat in Chhattisgarh and Congress is ahead on Vav seat in Gujarat.
Congress party is leading on all three seats in Karnataka. Of the two seats in Kerala, Congress is ahead on one and CPM on one.
BJP is ahead on two seats in Madhya Pradesh. NPP party is ahead in one seat of Meghalaya. Out of 4 seats in Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party is ahead on three and Congress on one. Out of 7 seats in Rajasthan, BJP is ahead on three, Congress on two and Bharatiya Tribal Party on two.
Elections have already been held unopposed on two seats in Sikkim. Both the seats have gone to Sikkim Krantikari Morcha.
Apart from this, out of 9 seats in Uttar Pradesh, BJP is ahead on 5 seats, Rashtriya Lok Dal on one seat and Samajwadi Party on three seats. Kedarnath, the only seat in Uttarakhand, seems to be going to BJP’s account. In the by-elections held on 6 seats of West Bengal, Trinamool Congress is leading on all the seats.
