Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Aishbag police on Tuesday arrested eight employees of the call centre who were involved in duping people across the country by offering hefty returns on investments in online share trading.
Police have registered a case on the complaint of a fraud victim from Maharashtra and arrested call centre operator Afzal Khan. According to reports, police have seized 87 computers, mobiles, 29 SIM cards, modem, documents etc from the call centre during a raid on February 22.
Police found 20 employees working at the call centre. They claimed that they used to call people across the country and offer them to make investments in online share trading.
The probe revealed that an FIR was registered in Maharashtra against the bank account run by Afzal Khan who was running the call centre with the name Ideology ATS at Prabhat Crossing. He and his daughter Sahiba Khan had duped hundreds of people across the country on pretext of big returns in online share trading.
After scanning 40 bank accounts in the name of Afzal Khan and others, police have found transactions worth Rs 95 lakh which was received from people across the country.
TI Jitendra Singh Garhwal said following investigations, police on Tuesday arrested Ramchandra Yadav, Braj Kishor Sahu, Saurabh Kushwaha, Vipin Ghosh, Shreyansh Sen, Ranu Bhumarkar, Ankur Machiwar and Monis.
ACP Surabhi Meena said efforts were underway to trace Afzal’s daughter Sahiba who is on the run. Three of the bank accounts used in cyber frauds were in the name of Afzal. Further investigations were being carried out to investigate role of other suspects. Moreover, police are scanning details of properties earned by Afzal and his kin through fraud and their illegal business, she added.
