Kolkata: Amid unrest, state education minister Bratya Basu Amit Roy, called father of injured student of Jadavpur University Indranuj Roy and has also expressed his ‘sorrow’ over the incident that took place on March 1.

Talking to the media, the father of the injured student said that the state education minister had reached out to him and had expressed his ‘regret’.

“He said that Indranuj is like his son and said that both he and his wife are regretting whatever has happened. He also wished for Indranuj’s speedy recovery. I said we don’t want any removal of anyone from any post and requested him to withdraw the FIRs. He said he will look into it,” said Amit Roy.

Indranuj’s mother who visited the hospital for the first time to see her son also said that the state education minister had taken stock of her son’s health.

“After seeing the videos from the media, I was myself unwell so today I came to meet my son,” said Indranuj’s mother.

Notably, on March 1, Indranuj and another student got injured after the car of Bratya Basu allegedly grazed past them.

Students’ wing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that soon they will do a ‘surgical strike’ in Jadavpur University.

Meanwhile, the students of Jadavpur University continue with their protests till Basu doesn’t resign from the post of education minister and till the police complaints against them are not withdrawn.
