Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): An eco-friendly All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) with advanced safety features is a centre of attraction at Auto Expo at GIS. Designed by a team of technocrats from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), the ATV runs on bio fuel. According to students who designed the vehicle, the ATV has additional safety measures that are absent in other similar vehicles.

In case the vehicle rolls over, the driver will be safe as it has been fitted with iron rods around his seat. Moreover, the safety belt has been given five point harnesses, which will keep the driver tightened to the seat in case the vehicle overturns. The vehicle is an innovative project, which can be used for defence purposes along with sports and recreational activities. The vehicle designed with a budget of Rs 6 lakh will run on a composition of hydrogen and CNG and has a maximum speed of 70 km/ph.

A special emergency power button has been provided in the vehicle, which can be used to stop the engine in case of leakage in the fuel tank or any other emergency situation, the students added. A similar ATV designed by students of Vellore Institute of Technology with the same safety measures has a higher speed. It can run at a mximum speed of 90 to 100 km/ph.
