Fishing fish is beneficial for health, as it contains omega-3 fatty acids and many essential minerals. But if you are going to buy fresh fish from the market, then you should take care of some special things. Otherwise you can harm health by buying wrong fish. If you also have difficulty in making a difference between fresh and stale fish, then adopt these easy tips mentioned by Chef Ajay Chopra.

1) Check by pressing with finger

When buying fish, add light pressure on the skin. If the skin remains the same by pressing, then it is stale fish. At the same time, if the skin comes back to its place, then it is fresh fish.

2) Identify freshness with eyes

Fish’s eyes should be shiny and clean. If the eyes look yellow or blurred, it can be chronic fish.

3) See the color of the gills

Fish gills (part near the neck) give the best indication of freshness. If the color of the gills is pink or red, the fish is fresh. But if the color of the gills is in black, dark maroon or dark shade, then it is stale fish.

4) Pick up the fish and check

If it hangs too much or looks loose, then understand that it is old. The fresh fish is tight and strong, which after lifting its texture remains.
