Eastern Monarch, expertly ridden by the champion jockey S. Sandesh, emerged victorious in the prestigious Free Press Journal Trophy, held at the Mahalaxmi Race Course on Thursday.

In this highly competitive eight-horse race, Eastern Monarch initially settled into fourth position but showed impressive acceleration in the latter half of the race. As the finish line drew nearer, the colt surged forward, edging out Charlie Brown by a neck to claim the coveted trophy.

The race began with Trail Blazer setting a strong pace, leading the field as the horses galloped through the first stretch of the six-furlong event. However, Trail Blazer was soon overtaken by the pack, with Eastern Monarch making a notable move as the race passed the halfway point.

Trained by Sanjay Kolse, this talented colt had been positioned in striking distance throughout the race. As they neared the final stretch, Sandesh expertly maneuvered Eastern Monarch, making the most of his riding skills and the horse’s stamina to clinch the victory. The jockey’s ability to time the finish perfectly allowed Eastern Monarch to edge past Charlie Brown in a thrilling finale.

This victory adds another prestigious win to the career of both Sandesh and Eastern Monarch, showcasing the colt’s remarkable potential and the precise craftsmanship of trainer Sanjay Kolse.
