China said the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.8, but the US Geological Survey said it was 7.1. Local people said that within a few hours of the earthquake, more than 40 tremors were felt.

Relief work intensified: According to China Meteorological Department, the temperature in Dingri County is currently -8 degrees Celsius and will fall to -18 degrees Celsius in the evening. Due to the earthquake, many houses have been destroyed in this border area, the work of evacuating people from the debris has come to a standstill, the electricity and water supply system has been completely disrupted.

After the incident, Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered emergency relief work. People are struggling to escape the harsh cold, about 22 thousand disaster relief materials including cotton tents, coats, beds have been delivered to the victims. More than 1500 local firefighters and rescue workers have been sent to the scene. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Tisogo town of Dingri County, where there are 27 villages. The population of this part is estimated to be around 8 lakhs.

This earthquake that occurred in Tibet was also felt in the border districts of Nepal like Kavrepalanchok, Sindhu Palanchok Dhading and Solukhumbu and people came out of their homes in fear. Earthquake tremors were also felt in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu and people came out of their homes in fear. Buildings, power lines, trees shook. However, no casualties have been reported so far in Nepal. The district administration said a two-storey building has collapsed in Shankuwasabha district.
