The center of this powerful earthquake was at a depth of 10 km, which came to the southeast of about 194 km from Kimbe at 6.04 am local time.

The waves can rise up to a height of 1 to 3 meters.

The American Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said, “There is a possibility of arising out of one to three meter high tsunami waves. In addition, there is a possibility of small tsunami waves in Solomon Island.” Following the tsunami warning, it was reported that the second blow was felt in the same area after about 30 minutes of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake on the island of New Britain. The intensity of this shock was measured at 5.3 on the Richter scale.

There is no information about the loss yet.

About 500,000 people live on the island of New Britain. There is no notice of any damage yet after a powerful earthquake.

No tsunami warning has been issued to Australia and New Zealand.

The Meteorological Bureau of Australia said that there is no threat to a tsunami in the neighboring country near Papua New Guinea. At the same time, no warning has been issued for New Zealand yet.

It is noteworthy that Papua is located on the Agni Roy of the New Guinea Pacific Ocean, which is famous for frequent earthquakes. Many activities like earthquake and landslides are common in this region.
