Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra is at the center of controversies these days. Kamra, who was a victim of Shiv Sena’s anger after alleged satire on Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has now collided with the music company T-Series.

Copyright dispute with T-Series

Kamra on Wednesday claimed that T-series sent notice of copyright violation against one of her videos. He shared a screenshot on social media platform X and wrote:

“Parodi and Satire (satire) are legally under proper use (Fair Use). I have not used the original lyrics of songs in my video, nor instruments. If this video is removed, every dance and song video should also be removed.”

He alleged that every monopoly in India acts like a “mafia” and urged people to download their videos.

Hunt of Shiv Sena’s anger

Kamra faced opposition from Shiv Sena activists after singing against Eknath Shinde last week after singing in a stand-up Act.

  • After the video went viral, Shiv Sainiks vandalized the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar area of Mumbai, where their show took place.

  • Violence was also carried out in the hotel where the club was located.

  • Several leaders, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, asked Kamra to apologize, but refused.

  • Kamra said, “I will not apologize nor hide the controversy until it is calm. If the court says so, then I will apologize.”

FIR and police summons

FIR was lodged against Kamra at Khar police station in Mumbai after a complaint by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel.

  • The police issued a second summons after sending the first summons and will be questioned soon.

Kamra’s impunity and future fighting

This attitude of Kunal Kamra has become a topic of discussion on media and social platforms. On the one hand, he is fighting political and corporate pressure, while he says that he will not back down from his thoughts.
