A 25-year-old driver miraculously escaped death after his truck plunged off the Shenglu Elevated Expressway in Cixi, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China, on April 10.
A video of the dramatic accident has surfaced on social media. Despite the horrific fall, the driver was rescued with no life-threatening injuries.
According to reports, the truck was traveling southbound on the elevated road when it suddenly veered off course, crashing through several construction barriers before plummeting to the ground.
Due to the fall from such a height, the truck was badly mangled, with its pieces scattered all over the scene, leaving a trail of destruction.
First responders—including fire departments, traffic police, and emergency medical units—quickly arrived at the scene. The firefighting team used hydraulic rescue equipment to free the driver from the severely damaged cab. After a tense half-hour rescue operation, they successfully extracted him and transferred him to waiting medical personnel, who transported him to a nearby hospital.
The Cixi Public Security Bureau reported that the driver, identified as 25-year-old Zhang, lost control of the vehicle due to improper handling. Fortunately, he sustained no critical injuries, and no one else was harmed in the incident. Investigators confirmed that alcohol was not a factor in the accident, though they are still examining other possible causes.
