DRDO and Indian Army successfully tested MRSAM missile, accurately demolished in the air

In view of India’s security challenges, the country is constantly working to empower its defense capabilities. In this episode, the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and the Indian Army have jointly tested a medium -distance surface -to -air missile (MRSAM). The test was of the Indian Army version, under which four flight tests were conducted, and managed to target all the targets accurately.

Where was the test?

These tests were conducted on 3 and 4 April at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island located near Odisha coast. The missiles were launched against high-speed air goals. In all tests, missiles accurately pierced the target in the air and successfully destroyed them.

What was special in the tests?

All four tests were conducted under different circumstances-lengthy distance, short distance, height and low height. In all cases the missiles proved their target completely and proved the operational capacity and efficiency of the weapon system.

The data obtained during these tests was verified with range equipment such as radar and infrared tracking systems, which were deployed by Integrated Test Range, Chandipur.

Testing from two commands of army

The test was conducted by the Eastern and Southern Command of the Indian Army under the guidance of DRDO. It certified the operational abilities of both commands and has opened an important route towards deploying these arms systems in two regiments.

For whom is this missile system created?

The MRSAM system has been developed by DRDO specially for the Indian Army in collaboration with the Israeli Aerospace Industries (IA). The system is equipped with multi-function radar, command posts, mobile launchers and other essential vehicles, which make its operational efficiency even stronger.
