Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Dr Sandhya Jain has been removed as principal of the Government Autonomous Dental College, and Dr Alka Gupta has been appointed in her place. The Public Health and Medical Education Department issued the order on Wednesday, stating that Dr Jain’s role was temporary.
The decision follows an inspection by the Dental Council of India, which found serious problems in the college. These issues raised concerns about losing postgraduate seats, leading to the leadership change. Dr Gupta, the new principal, also faces a complaint filed in February 2024, alleging irregularities. The matter is still under investigation.
1 Years Lost, Odisha Woman Reunited With Family
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A mentally disordered woman, separated from her family for 11 years, has been reunited by the Home Again initiative and Odisha Police. Vanita, also known as Lacey, left her home in Odisha’s Angul district in 2014 due to mental health issues.
She unknowingly boarded a train, wandering across cities until she arrived in Indore. The Home Again project, run by Gramin Adivasi Samaj Vikas Sansthan, provided her shelter, therapy and medical care.
Vanita gradually regained her memory, enabling the institution to trace her family in Odisha with police assistance.
Home Again coordinator Soni Dharawa escorted Vanita to her village, Gobra, where an emotional reunion with her husband and children took place. The initiative continues to reconnect displaced women with their families.
