Indore: Dr Alka Gupta Is Dental College Principal, High Court Rejects Dr Sandhya Jain’s Plea | FP Photo

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The dispute over the principal’s post in the Government Dental College has ended, with the high court ruling in favour of Dr Alka Gupta. The court dismissed Dr Sandhya Jain’s petition against Dr Gupta’s appointment, stating that keeping Dr Jain in the role would not support fair administration due to an investigation involving her husband, former principal Dr Deshraj Jain.

The court also clarified that while Dr Gupta would continue as principal, she would not write Dr Jain’s annual performance review. The issue began on January 8, when the government replaced Dr Jain with Dr Gupta. Dr Jain refused to hand over the charge and filed a petition in the high court.

On January 9, Dr Gupta assumed the role, despite a January 10 court order to maintain the status quo. This led to both doctors working as principals from different offices.

After hearing the case on January 16, the high court announced its decision on January 17, resolving the conflict and confirming Dr Gupta as the principal. Later, Dr Gupta took charge following rituals and Vedic mantras by pandits. She also got the nameplate of Dr Jain removed from the office.

HC Orders Action In Appointment Irregularities

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The high court has directed the government to take action within four weeks against those responsible for irregularities in appointments in the Government Dental College. In its four-page verdict, the court noted that a complaint was filed on February 10, 2024, highlighting procedural violations in the appointment process but no action was taken.

The court referenced a communication dated March 9, 2024, confirming that improper procedures were followed. The case involves allegations against former principal Dr Deshraj Jain, who is accused of violating rules by appointing a candidate from the general category to a position reserved for a specific category. The court emphasised the need for swift action to address these violations and ensure accountability.
